  1. If the light is on and solid, it means that the ESP is off. If the skidding car is flashing, then the ESP is kicking in. As for me, I have 2010 SXT FWD with the stock Kumho tires and I have to say that the drive was awesome. It was my first snowfall (between 8-9") in this car and I really enjoyed the drive and the traction that I got. The only time the ESP or ABS kicked in for me was, as mentionned earlier by diggit, when I did so on purpose. The law in Quebec obliges people to put winter tires on and mine go on tomorrow. Surely the drive will be even better!
  2. Using a C-Clamp is the case for front brakes. The rear brakes always need a special tool to "screw" the piston back into the caliper. In the case of my G6, the rear piston had deep grooves in them. I would fit a screw driver in it to use as a wedge and would turn the piston into the caliper. But I am not sure what the piston looks like on the Journey!
  3. I have a SXT with roughly 2400kms (1500mi) on it and not a single problem! Love the ride and the feel of the car!
  4. You can even go down to a 16" steel rim. Don't forget that the Journey SE had 16" rims and there's no difference in the braking system. I have a 2010 SXT and the dealer gave me a set of 16" winter tires to go on in the place of my 17" mags.
  5. If that isn't a test of patience, I don't know what is. Why the long delay?
  6. Don't forget that when people come on these forums they come to vent and find solutions to problems. The Sunroof leaking is not an acceptable defect and should never happen but assembly lines are not perfect. As for the brakes, I never come to expect much from OEM. I always use what comes with the car but the first chance I get I swap them out for ceramic pads and cross-drilled rotors. I got my Journey one week and a half ago and let me tell you I am impressed but I am still in the awe period.
  7. When I was shopping around, I knew that I wanted a cross-over but when it came to comparing on a pricepoint, the Dodge Journey was the cheapest and gave, in my opinion, many more options. I looked from the Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute, Ford Edge, Honda CR-V and the Toyota Rav-4. Bottom line I think I got the best bang for the buck.
  8. I can say that in and around Montreal, Quebec I have only seen maybe a dozen. And the most have appeared in the last month or so. I just got mine last week and heads are still turning when they see the car. I even drove down (in august) to Burlington, VT and did not see one on the road. Also went to Plattsburg, NY and only saw one on that road trip.
  9. On every GM made car, I have always managed to warp brake rotors. I never went cheap but I never got cross-drilled. Now that I am getting a Dodge, the first brake job is going to be ceramic pads and cross drilled rotors. I have seen them and I know they are available. If it will decrease the heat created and reduce the risk of warping the rotors than for me it is worth the investment!
  10. If they dissipate the heat more wouldn't it decrease the chances of warping the rotors. That in it's self would be enough for me.
  11. What exactly is the relay harness for? Is it to maintain a certain voltage to the system? Most HID systems I have seen have an operating range of 9 to 16v therefore not requiring an exact 12v to work? I am just curious as to what I woudl need to make them work! BTW great instructions.
  12. Just got a call from the dealer and my 2010 Journey SXT is in at the rail yards ! He said that it will take a day for him to receive at the dealership and should be ready to be picked up on Monday! Well at least it gives me a weekend to clear out the leased G6 and get her ready to be returned! I am quite surprised, it took exactly 8 weeks to come in, just like the dealer had said. 2010 Journey SXT, Stone white, FWD, Sunroof, Convenience group 1 and Premium Convenience group. Now I have to find someway of keeping busy until Monday!
  13. I know the 2010 SXT got standard fog lights; Convenience group 1 got the following: remote starter and some other small stuff; the premium group lost the remote starter but was replaced with a six speaker upgrade plus a subwoofer. I also heard that the 2010 SXT and R/T models are getting cross drilled brakes in the front. I ordered a 2010 SXT FWD in Stone white with the convenience group 1, premium group and a sunroof; overall price difference between 2009 and 2010 is about $1000. All in all I believe it's a better deal but I have to wait and see. 8 weeks to wait!
