  1. This probably won’t work for you now, but for future reference... Try a product called BHEESTIE Bag; we often take these camping and canoeing. They work very well. Click here for BHEESTIE web site
  2. Don't forget about this.... Dodge announces free maintenance program for 2011 Journey LUX. Dodge has just announced a free maintenance program for the highline versions of their crossover. This program, which carries a listed retail value of $1,100, will come as a standard feature on 2011 Durango Citadel and 2011 Journey Lux – the current “highline” of those models. The No-Cost Maintenance Plus progam offers 3 years of 36,000 miles of basic maintenance at no cost to the customer. This includes service items like oil/filter changes every 3 months or 3,000 miles and the recommended 6,000 mile service (tire rotation, belt and fluid inspection, etc). The No-Cost Maintenance Plus plan also comes with $35/day allowances for rental cars should your 2011 Durango or Journey be in the shop overnight, $100 allowances for ‘sign and go’ towing or emergency roadside assistance and even $1,000 for trip interruption coverage in case you are on vacation and your new Dodge runs into an issue. This program has been added to help give added peace of mind to the owners of the 2011 Durango Citadel and Journey Lux, as well as reducing the cost of ownership. These two trimlines are aimed at the luxury end of the segment and maintenance programs like this have become common for the higher end models so now new Dodge owners can enjoy the same luxurious amenities, style and hassle free ownership more commonly expected of far more expensive vehicles. Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of the Dodge brand had this to say about their new No-Cost Maintenance Plus plan: “The new Dodge Durango Citadel and Journey Lux models are loaded with features and content typically found on competitor vehicles priced tens of thousands of dollars more. This new no-cost maintenance plus plan gives our loyal customers, as well as customers who are discovering the Dodge brand for the first time, unparalleled peace of mind." The full details for the new Mopar No-Cost Maintenance Plus plan: -Benefits of 3 years or 36,000 miles -$0 deductible -Oil, oil filter changes and lubrication (3-month/3,000-mile service intervals) -Scheduled and recommended maintenance (6,000-mile intervals) -$35/day car rental allowance (car rental allowance for any overnight dealership mechanical repair, 5-day maximum per occurrence) -$35/first day rental (car rental allowance or taxi service for any dealership mechanical repair or maintenance service [includes bodywork]) -$100 “Sign-and-go” towing and roadside assistance - Benefits include towing, flat tire change (with existing good spare) battery jump, out-of-gas fuel delivery (maximum 2 gallons), and lockout service (i.e. keys locked in vehicle or frozen lock), as much as $100 per occurrence -$1,000 trip interruption coverage. 3. I searched the Forum for any indication of this News, but didn't find anything. For those folks in the United States - Dodge left 3 new 2012 Journeys somewhere in the US and if you find them, they are yours to keep. The 1st one was found in about 16 hours by a Father and Son. Check out the video. Dodge Contest - Find it and it's yours

    DRL

To get my DRL on - In addition to setting the option in the menu, I had to manually press in (not turn) the "LIGHTS" knob to left of the steering wheel. The DRL come on everytime I start the car now.
  6. Can someone advise how to turn up volume on the "BEEPS" when a favorite is found? All I get is the green FAVORITES flag in the corner, I selected both the audio and visual in the options menu. Still no sound.
  7. Congratulations and welcome aboard.
  8. Received my Lock Pick C8R (Basic version - $209), included all the instructions, the C8R unit, and cables (plus a Jelly Belly sample - Mmmmm.). I'm not an auto technician, usually things go wrong or break when I try to fix them. I read the instructions twice and started my installation. I gathered a few screwdrivers, a plastic card, and my camera. I slowly and carefully removed the first piece of trim closest to the steering wheel (starting next the the ignition button) - I placed the plastic card on the dash as close as I could to the trim and stuck my flathead screwdriver under the trim and lifted (slowly), I kept moving down the piece until I got to the last snap. The piece was up enough for me to see behind it and I could tell the last snap had no springs so I slowly wiggled it free with my fingers. The second piece was on the opposite side of the radio, I only had to pop up the first spring snap. That one was pretty easy to get up, I used the plastic card and the flathead screwdriver again (still being very careful not to scratch the finish). I used a starhead screwdriver to remove the 2 screws on either side of the front panel. The next part scared me a little bit. Removing the lower front panel under the display (the one with all the buttons). I placed both hands underneath the front panel and my thumbs on either side of the soft part of the dash close to the dvd/cd player opening and carefully pulled. I heard what sounded like plastic breaking but it was only the 2 spring snaps coming out of there holes. Phew, what a relief....no broken parts. I unplugged the front panel as it states in the instructions and set it on the floor. I used a starhear screwdriver to remove the 4 screws that held the lower radio unit. I grabbed the radio until on the top and bottom with my fingers, lifted up slightly and pulled forward. Lower the radio unit before you reach the gear shift, it sits nicely right at the opening. I then unplugged the radio (top plug indicated in the instructions), and plugged in the provided cable (female) into the exisiting (male) cable and the other end into the radio itself. Plugging in the cables took time and patients - make sure all the prongs line up before pushing them together (take your time on this step). After everything was plugged in I tested out the system before putting it all back together. The DVD works while driving, the Navigation is changable while driving, and the rear camera works on demand in any gear. Putting it back together was pretty simple. I found a spot above the radio inside the dash that the box fits in. I couldn't get it to fit directly behind the radio. Once in place, I screwed the radio back in using the 4 screws, plugged the front face back in and snapped it back into place, screwed the front face back in using the 2 screws, snapped both pieces of trim back in place and I was done. Very easy and fun to use. Pressing the "BACK" button 4 time within 3 seconds activates the display behind the steerin wheel. After activated, remember to use the 3 buttons on the back of the steering wheel. Moving up or down will change the menu and pressing the middle button selects your option. 9. This is the reason I haven't ordered mine yet....How does the bezel come off? My luck, I'd put a screwdriver under the corner and it would snap it in two. Pics and instructions would be great - PLEASE!
  10. I also had a bad experience with my Dealership. My salesman seemed to be great to start off with. On my second visit to the dealership he walked right up to me shook my hand and remembered my name. After I decided to officially order the 2011 Dodge Journey LUX model - most conversations stopped. Sure, when I went to the dealership for updates I was always greeted with a "hello, how are you", but nothing like the intial excitment. I'd also call and text my salesman for updates only to wait week or never get a response. That is totally frustrating. He was the nicest person, just a bad "follow-up" guy. So, after 3+ months of waiting my Journey finally arrives. I set up a time to come in after work. My car is sitting out front all nice and shiney (from afar). I go in and talk to my salesman, he takes all of my information including the 2 trade in vehicles and pay-off amounts. He verified by calling the banks. I was then moved to another office and started the official paperwork with the Finance Manager. He moved fast and furious, I think he wanted to get out at closing time (it was Friday). I work for AT&T and we get a discount through the Chrysler Affiliate program. I made sure to print off all the necessary paperwork and codes to show the dealer. The dealer had no clue as to how the program worked but made it SEEM like they did. They had already figured out the price of the car beforehand and showed me the break down without knowing that I get the "special" price listed on the left side of the dealer invoice. I asked to see the invoice and they brought it to me. The price they were charging was $37,585.00 - The Preferred Price for Affiliate members was listed as $34,465.00. So the Manager took back the price sheet and refigured my cost. When he brought it back to show me, the customer cash and rebates ($3120.) had been re-calculated to reduce the $37,585. to $34,465. and he said "that's how the program works". Yesterday I had some time on my hands so I thought I'd review the paperwork. I should have taken the time the day I signed them. I called the Chrysler Affiliate hotline and explained what the dealer did, they told me the dealer needs to START with the preferred price and reduce from there. So the way the dealer figured the price, I got $0.00 customer cash and $0.00 rebate. What a rip off. This morning I log into my checking account and found a $400 payment auto debited for one of my trade-in cars. Come to find out, the dealership switched the pay-off amounts and sent them to the opposite bank loans. So now I have an overpayment on one and an underpayment on the other. That's going to be a mess to get fixed. Hope they can figure it out before July 11th when I have to make my first payment on the Journey. I contacted my new auto loan bank and spoke with a very friendly guy named Josh, he wanted to make sure everything went okay and he wanted to go over all of the loan numbers. His first number was the percentage rate - 3.49% for 60 months. I told Josh that the dealer was offering 3.99% but if I bought the extended warranty for $1700, that the rate would go down to 3.49%. Josh said that was a total LIE. Josh said if I didn't want the extended warranty that I had 30 days to cancel and my rate would stay the same (3.49%). I love the 2011 Dodge Journey LUX - but this has been a rough ordeal. To everyone getting ready to buy - know your facts, take your time, read everything, ask questions, keep your cell phone handy just in case you need to verify something with an experienced car dealing honest friend, and don't let the dealer bully you.
  11. Does anyone know the model number of the Garmin Navigation system included in the Journey? I've been to the Garmin site but no luck. I am trying to add new voices (since there are only 3 to choose from) and new vehicle icons. Is this possible? Anyone have directions? Model number?
  12. Driving Tips Drive at a Steady Pace - Fuel efficiency increases when you drive at an even speed. You can also improve your gas mileage by avoiding fast starts and quick stops and by using cruise control during highway driving. Drive at Moderate Speeds - Most cars operate most efficiently between 35 and 45 miles per hour. Operating your car at lower and higher speeds reduces fuel efficiency. For highway driving, gas mileage can increase by as much as 15 percent if you drive at 55 miles per hour rather than 65 miles per hour. Combine Your Trips – By combining your errands into one trip, you get more things done faster with less driving, less gas, and less pollution. Starting a car after it has been sitting for more than an hour creates up to five times more pollution than when the engine is warm. Avoid Unnecessary Idling - Contrary to popular belief, your car uses more fuel when your engine idles for 30 or more seconds than when you turn off and restart your engine. To improve your fuel economy, try reducing engine warm-up time in the winter and turn your engine off in traffic jams. Idling for long periods in cold weather can lead to excessive engine wear. Get Fuel When it’s Cool – Postpone refueling your vehicle until the cooler evening hours. Evaporative losses of gasoline from refueling are less when the temperature is lower. Don’t Top Off the Tank - It releases gasoline fumes into the air and cancels the benefits of the pump’s anti-pollution devices. Stop short of a full tank, it’s safer and reduces pollution. Avoid Carrying Unneeded Items in the Trunk - Extra weight decreases gas mileage. Also, reduce drag by placing items inside the car or trunk rather than on roof racks. Maintenance Tips Keep Tires Properly Inflated and Wheels Aligned - Proper tire inflation and wheel alignment prevents excessive drag and can improve your fuel economy by up to one mile per gallon. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer. Get Regular Tune-ups and Maintenance Checks - A tune-up can improve your car’s performance and gas mileage. Poor starting, rough idling and lower gas mileage may be signals that your spark plugs are worn and need to be replaced. Repairing a faulty oxygen sensor can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent. Also, follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for replacing motor oil and air filters. Use Your Air Conditioner Sparingly - Running the air conditioner places added drag on your car’s engine that can reduce gas mileage by up to 20 percent in city driving. Try rolling down the windows on those not-so-hot days or when you’re stuck in traffic. Check & Replace Air Filters Regularly - Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. Your car's air filter keeps impurities from damaging the inside of your engine. Not only will replacing a dirty air filter save gas, it will protect your engine. Know Your Car - Check the tailpipe for signs that your car may be running inefficiently. Black smoke means there is too much gas in the air/fuel mixture and the fuel injection system should be checked. Blue smoke means the engine is burning oil and excess hydrocarbons are being released. Pay attention to flashing dashboard lights that warn of engine problems. A sudden drop in gas mileage may signal engine troubles and higher vehicle emissions. Get your vehicle to a skilled automotive technician for repairs when you notice any of these problem indicators.

  14. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia and my Travel Link is not activated through the free 1year service either. When I called Sirius, they told me it wasn't even part of the free plan. I spoke with a "manager" at Sirius and he told me I have 1 free year of Audio and after that I have a rollover plan that includes another free year of audio AND travel link. I'm very confused. Should I call Chrysler/Dodge Customer service?
  15. A day ago my Sirius radio and Travel Link stopped working. I could tune only to channel 0 and 184. I called Sirius and they could not find the dealer activation, so they told me I needed to set up a new account for the free 1 year of service through Chrysler. We went through everything but only found 1 ESN/SID number matching the AUDIO portion of the radio. We tried to find the other ESN/SID for the DATA (Travel Link) - but were unsuccessful. Does anyone know where this number is located? I read in previous posts about the Traffic not working but I think this is different, it's the portion of the radio that has the gas prices, movie reviews, etc. Please help.
