  1. I would agree with the other owners at highway speeds. Where I see a little degredation in fuel mileage is around the city. Once the fairly heavy Journey gets up to speed, it seems to cruise quite well. However, getting the vehicle up to speed around town seems to drop the mileage a bit. Still, it's not terrible at around 17.5 to 18 mpg. I have an AWD SXT with third row seats for comparison.
  2. I finally got my new Journey SXT AWD. It ended up being exactly as I hoped. It is a great car. The problem is that there was a manufacturer's paint defect that had to be repainted. Also, we had a problem with the vehicle electronics. There was an error that caused all of the dashboard contols to go haywire. There was a nobuss error that did show up on the front panel. It took the dealership quite a while to get the problem fixed. We finally found out that a pigtail connection between the vehicle computer and the dashboard computer was not connected properly. We've just received it back, and everything seems to be working well. It would be nice to get a little better gas mileage now that gas is $4/gal. I might have settled for the 4 banger without the AWD. I'm sure I'll appreciate the AWD this winter, but right now, I'd love to get that extra few miles per gallon. Anyway, I love the car now that it seems all put together.
  3. I heard from my dealer that my Journey should be in this week. In fact, he received notification that he had received it on Monday, but looking out his window, he had not received any vehicles that day. Still, it looks like I may actually be able to get an eyeball on it within a week. I'll keep everyone up on what happens. It is a Deep Water Blue AWD SXT.
  4. I have heated seats now, and there is no way I'd buy a car without them. I looked at the RT, too, but it just didn't seem worth it to me. I think it basically means you get chrome clad wheels. It seems like lot of money for shiny wheels I won't see unless I'm cleaning them. That's just me though. Also, I won't buy another car without heated seats. The cloth seems pretty good for these. If it is as good as advertised, I think the cloth may be better for wear and dirt than the leather. I hope so. That's what I got in my SXT. So, Thunder, be sure to post how you're getting along with your SXT. I'm a little concerned with the MyGig hard drive. My dealer told me that it was 30 Gb in the 2009's I hope so. 20 Gb seemed a little cramped with the nav system data , etc. along with my music collection. I'm not planning on carting around my CDs any longer. There should be absolutely no need. I ordered this car for the fun factor. I once had a GMC Jimmy. It was inexpensive, and I had a blast with friends. I wasn't too worried about stains or door dings. It was very different with my '87 Pontiac Trans Am GTA with its gold diamond spoke wheels . I was so careful with it that it really wasn't as fun as it should have been. It was a beautiful car. I still pull out some pictures once in a while just to remember how much I liked that car. The Journey will be a vehicle I can drive to my brother's house, have the iceboxes filled and enjoy some guy time. That seems wierd to write given that this is such a family vehicle. Oh, well. It was nice to read your post. I hope you get your car soon. ETA on mine is April 10 give or take a few days, I guess. I ordered the dark blue. What color is yours, Thunder?
  5. The best advice I can give you is to use the Dodge site to build your own to see what's available and to understand the difference between the SXT and the R/T. I ordered an SXT because I couldn't justify the extra expense of the R/T. You can get just about every option available on the R/T on the SXT with a lower starting price. Here's the link: Dodge site where you can build your own Journey
  6. As I was doing research on this vehicle, I was starved for good reviews that seemed to address my situation as I live in Indiana where the winters frequently come with snow and ice. I ran across this article by John Gilbert. I've subsequently e-mailed Mr. Gilbert with a few questions, and he graciously reponded quickly and answered my questions. Many thanks, again, Mr. Gilbert. If you're interested in getting a Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat finish on your Journey, I can't seem to find a lot of photos showing that color on the car. Mr. Gilbert's article features two pictures of the blue Journey he was able to test drive. Here is a link to his article: Article by John Gilbert about the Journey performance in cold climates.
  7. I've not seen any color charts that I believe. Most of what I've gone by is looking up reviews. The Dodge site is not helpful. I have had red cars for almost 20 years, and I wanted to switch to blue, so I was interested in the deep water blue pearl coat. The Dodge site shows a color that is almost aquamarine rather than blue. I did find a great review from a guy who got to test drive a deep water blue AWD SXT. The photos he included show a nice, dark blue which is what I was wanting. Anyway, I found a color chart on Edmunds though I'm not sure I would believe it. Here is the link: Edmund's version of a color chart
  8. I ordered my Journey three weeks ago today. I'd like to find the status of my order - online if possible. Does anyone know how to get on-line order status? I would rather not call people and become a pest, but I want to know how long my wait will be. I was hooked when I test drove the car. Actually, when the dealer drove a black Journey up for me to jump in, I was impressed with how good the Journey looks, and I'm not a fan of black cars. The drive was smooth and quiet. I'm looking forward to many trips given the lifetime powertrain warrantee.
  9. My username is not technically correct. I'm not an owner, yet, but I ordered my Journey three weeks ago. I've been looking forward to delivery day. I thought I'd pass along that Motorweek is going to feature the Dodge Journey in one of their shows. Find more information at the following address:Motorweek - Journey is the Car of the month
  10. I ordered a Journey three weeks ago. I test drove the four. It didn't have any problem keeping up with interstate traffic, but It was a struggle to get up to speed on the on ramp. I told the dealer that I wanted to drive a 3.5 V6 before I signed, and he set me up with a test drive on the Avenger AWD V6. I know it's not quite comparing apples to apples, but the power difference was so marked that I orderd the AWD SXT Journey. For me, the four was just not enough. It wasn't as terrible as some reviews seem to indicate. It just wasn't enough for me to feel happy with. Currently driving an H2, looking at 15 to 22 mpg looks pretty darned good to me.
