  1. Hopefully this is the correct forum for this topic I posted a few days ago in the electrical section about some problems I've had with my 2014 Journey SXT/3.6L. Now the work has been done and there's a discrepancy in who should pay the bill. I bought the car from CarMax in November and have their MaxCare extended warranty. I started seeing warning lights (ABS, EWS, Engine, etc) a few days ago and tried to schedule a service appointment. CarMax couldn't see me until the 7th (over a week away,) but I found out I could take it to my regular Dodge place and they were authorized to do the warranty repair, so I went with that since they could get me in yesterday However, Dodge service discovered the problem was caused by some kind of third-party tracking device the previous owners had installed. Apparently it was a fleet vehicle, so the Dodge place tracked down the culprit and removed the device, rewired everything, cleared the codes and it's supposedly good to go. The problem is, Dodge says I shouldn't be responsible for the bill and that CarMax should pay for it because this is an issue completely on them... meaning, they should have removed the device before selling the vehicle, as it eventually malfunctioned and caused the computer to throw up codes. Does this make sense? Anyone heard of this? Should I go to CarMax and tell them they should cover the bill since it's their screw-up?
  2. Thanks! Now my next problem is figuring out how to disconnect it! Ha The interwebs seem to indicate that the wheel has to be removed to take the battery out... but is there an easier way for a simple disconnect?
  3. I bought a 2014 SXT with a 3.6L from CarMax this past November. When I bought it, they told me it had a recall for some kind of wiring issue that I immediately got fixed by my local Dodge dealer. Yesterday, the first thing that happened was the traction control light came on while on the interstate and it disabled the cruise control. I stopped at an exit, shut it off and back on, and it went away. However, about 10 minutes later it came back on, so I decided to finish my drive to home and deal with it then. Before I got home, I noticed other dash lights would intermittently flash on & off (very quickly) as if the electricity went out & flashed back on... by the time I got home, the ABS light had come on as well as the engine light. I have the 'MaxCare' extended warranty and have a service appointment at CarMax, but they couldn't get me in until the 7th (over a week away.) In the mean time, I'm open to suggestions of things to try in the event it could be a simple fix. Is it possible this could be as simple as a bad battery and/or alternator? I thought about taking it to Auto Zone to have those checked, but won't waste my time if the warning lights automatically mean I need to have it serviced regardless. Tips, tricks, experiments welcome... and thanks!
