mfeel got a reaction from twinx1649 in Safety Recall S44 Transaxle Oil Pump
    Hi,

I just received by the mail a recall for my Dodge journey RT 2016 about a defective transaxle oil pump. How dangerous is that? Thanks.

And? Maybe new members or someone might need the information and find it useful! No?

Apparently he is still trying to drive home to respond...JK. Pretty vague posting. Maybe with more information, more help can be offered.

It certainly isn't an add-on.  Your Journey didn't come with Sirius/XM because the trim level you bought doesn't have it.  if it did, not only would you not have to do anything, but factory equipped vehicles come with a year of free service

And you certainly don't have to go to Best Buy to have it transferred in any case.  You would just phone the Sirius customer service number that so thoughtfully appears on the channel 0 screen and give them your account information.

    You now have several options;

You can install a satellite antenna (it is possible to replace the present antenna with a satellite compatible one and to run a wire from that antenna through the headliner and down the roof pillar and feed it to the radio).  But you'll also have to replace the radio with one equipped for the service.  You can usually find them on eBay or buy one from a scrap yard.  Note that newer radios require an unlock code - your dealer COULD give the code to you for free, but if not there are people (on this board) who have been known to helpfully provide this information without charge.

You can buy a radio from BestBuy and stick it in your armrest - plug the audio output into the jack in the armrest and listen away.

If your vehicle has Bluetooth you can simply buy a BT equipped satellite radio receiver and antenna and connect to the vehicle that way - or you can download the Sirius app and use your data plan to get the music, though Spotify is a LOT better.

Or you can load up an iPod and listen to that.

The acoustic quality of SiriusXM's system is less than stellar.

It isn't exactly an Alpine system.  They have Alpine speakers connected to the uConnect TGM, which is manufactured by Panasonic.

It is possible to replace the TGM with aftermarket equipment, but it comes at a cost in functionality because the system also controls the air conditioning and other features in the vehicle.

I believe it's 1" lower. I know for certain the liftgate on my 14 R/T Rallye hits my head much more easily than the one on our 14 SXT Blacktop. There also appears to be a bit less wheel gap. Only other difference between the two is the SXT is FWD I4 and the R/T is the AWD V6.

I've seen those insane speeds logged on my own navigation memory recall screen, and I can tell you unequivocally that neither my wife or I have ever had the car north of 80MPH. I think I have gotten close a couple of times when overtaking a large truck just to get out of the left lane and back out of the way of the faster cars behind me, but my triple digit days ended with the demise of my dearly beloved Mazda 323 GT...and of my youth!

Is there a recall for the horn not functioning properly?  My car horn started going nuts today which was horrible. I was at the doctor and people thought I was in distress or something was wrong.

I am aware of the safety issue. But my brake lights are actually plenty bright enough and these are actually very Crystal clear can still red behind the black. Besides taking the light apart And upgrading the LEDs and board I can make then much brighter if I have too...

You are wrong about the auto headlight sensor.

This sensor is the like a small ball, Right under the mopar name on the windshield in the middle of the dash, in front.
It is circular, and it is small.

That picture is not from a journey, but still you get it.

    Hi.

    Theres something for you.
The sensor toward the windshield is the ambiant light sensor, and the one facing you is the glare light sensor.
In the night, the ambiant light sends information to the electronics or (control unit if you prefer) of the mirror so it knows it is night time condition, and if there is a light behind you that causes glare, the glare sensor will send information to the electronics.
After that, it will send a very low voltage to the mirror, which will result a dark dimmed mirror.

That is why in the day the mirror is never dark even if lets say there is sun behind you.

    They both work together.

    I hope it helps

Got it MF. I had figure that the dome looking ball in the dash was for the Auto Headlights. The sensor that is embedded on the back of the rear-view mirror (which I now know is the Ambient Light Sensor) is the one that I had no idea what it was used for. Thanks again for clearing all that up.

Thats not what the dealership told me but it wouldn't be the first time the dealership was wrong.  Mine is "nav ready" so they say and said $495 to install it.  I'll buy a portable garmin for $100 with life time updates before spending that if it was even an option.
