  1. I've heard of a ton of people who have a deep hatred for the Dodge Journey. I have no idea what they are talking about. I bought my 2011 Journey LUX for my wife's birthday in 2014, and I have never been disappointed. Apart from normal maintenance like oil changes, brake jobs, battery, tires and plugs, there have been no major malfunctions except for a recall that Dodge put out. At around 90K miles cylinder 2 shut down. Like SHUT OFF. I brought it in, they gave me a rental for a few days and had my DJ fixed right away. All paid for my Dodge. The car now has almost 130K on it and I feel 100% safe hauling around my wife and 1 year old son in it. We took our DJ to Las Vegas in last June. It was roughly a 3,000 mile round-trip from Iowa. I ran it harder than what I probably should have (I usually go 8-10 mph over the speed limit). Going through the summer heat of the desert, that would punish any vehicle. My DJ handled it like a boss. Las Vegas was HOT. The highest the car read was 133 degrees. Iowa winters can be extremely cold. The lowest it read was -22 degrees. She never skipped a beat. Not once. My work is 48 miles form my house, 96 miles round-trip every day. Most of it is Interstate 80, where I rack up most of my miles. I average 21 MPG in the Journey. Not great, but not bad for a 3.6 V6 AWD heavy machine. The ONLY gripe I have about this vehicle concerns the Uconnect 8.4. It has problems reconnecting my phone when I leave the vehicle and come back. (Like running in to a gas station and coming right back while I leave the car running) Does anyone else have this issue?? Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my 2011 Dodge Journey LUX. For someone who is looking in to investing their hard-earned cash in to a new or used crossover, I urge them to roll the dice on a Journey. Of course there are lemons with every vehicle. My Journey had a couple. But the vast majority of DJ owners regret nothing after buying their sweet ride. (Did I mention the DJ looks badass?!) I'm not saying this because I'm paid to by Dodge. I'm saying these great things about the Journey because I genuinely believe the DJ is the best car I have ever owned. Hands down. I hope this helps a future buyer with their research. Drive safe!
  2. Thanks for the comments...as for the racetrack tail lights, I think they look great on the Charger and Dart. It adds character and makes the cars really stand out. I'm not sure about the Durango yet. I just hope Dodge doesn't integrate them to all their vehicles.

    Hello all

Welcome to the forum! I'm thinking about putting new mufflers on my Lux. I've heard great things from people who have paired aftermarket mufflers with the 3.6. Thats a great warranty for what you got!
  4. Overall I am VERY pleased. I bought a 2011 Lux last year with about 35,000 miles on it. My wife and I wanted a domestic crossover that can get around on Iowa roads. We test drove many different vehicles and the DJ AWD V6 turned out to be the perfect match. The exterior is sporty and functional. I chose black with the 19" chrome wheels. Keyless entry works great, remote start works flawlessly, and all body panels blend in with each other. I like the way other DJ's look rolling down the road and I'm glad mine looks the same. On a side note, I love the tail lights. 4 "rings of fire" and 6 LED's for a third brake light look great. We opted for the LUX version for all the features that came with it. The 8.4" screen has a great UI. There's no doubt that Dodge had their brains on overdrive when they designed the leather all over the vehicle. Everything you touch is soft to the touch and looks good. Everything inside the vehicle is designed amazingly, down to the button integration on the steering wheel. A couple minor things I would change, however, are the rear fold down consul and the steering wheel placement. The rear consul feels cheap when you pull it down and the trim piece that connects it to the seat likes to fall off. Nothing a little TLC can't fix. If you center yourself on the driver's seat and look at the instrument panel, you can notice a slight left off-center of the steering wheel. It's something you don't notice at first or at all, just small enough to bug you if you focus on it. The interior of my DJ is well refined. Ahhh, the powertrain. Dodge did great work the the 3.6 Pentastar. It feels a little underpowered when you get on the throttle, but nonetheless has plenty of get up and go. Just glancing at the engine bay you can tell everything is meticulously placed. (except the battery...it's buried) The 6 speed transmission shifts great once it gets warmed up to about 95-100 degrees. I've read on several reviews that users have problems with their DJ downshifting on the slightest of inclines. I don't know what they're talking about. Mine downshifts twice during my 48 mile interstate commute, both times on pretty steep hills. I get roughly 22 MPG on the interstate at 75, and about 16 in the city. AWD works great. I live on a hilly gravel road and I have never had an issue with ice or snow. The front tires slip for a second then all 4 tires kick in and BAM. You're off. Here's my review. I hope it helps some of you and don't be afraid to comment and ask questions if you have any. Some things I'm wondering, How many people have a Lux on here? I know Dodge didn't make many and I've only seen 2 others on the road. Is there an AWD light that comes on when it's activated? If so, mine doesn't light up. Who else loves the tail lights? :shades: Thanks for the look guys, I look forward to talking to you. -Sorry for the sideways picture
  5. Hey guys I look forward to discussing topics with you all. I bought my Journey for my wife's birthday last year with 35k miles on it. We opted for the AWD because we live on a hilly gravel road in the middle of Iowa. Winters here can get harsh and the AWD works wonderfully on ice and snow. The Lux package has many features we love. Attached are a few random pictures. Thanks for the look and I hope I can help someone out!
